Coping mechanism was selected as independent variable and marital quality was selected as dependent variable of our study. This study was carried out to underscore the impact of coping mechanisms on the marital quality of dual career couples in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan. A clash of traditional and modern ideas and practices is occurring in Nepal, influencing newly married women’s household status and relationship quality, and potentially impacting women’s health. Husbands have growing ambivalence about dowry, leading to confusion and negatively impacting on relationships post-marriage. Access to technology facilitates this practice, although some couples are reluctant to admit their communication, suggesting stigma about this practice. Many marriages remain arranged however, couples often talk or meet before marriage and feel that they are able to build a foundation of love before marrying. In-depth qualitative interviews took place with 20 intact triads of newly married women, their husbands and their mothers-in-law, in one district of Nepal in 2017. The aim of this paper is to describe how changing marriage formation patterns and traditional practices such as co-residence and dowry are intersecting and impacting relationships post-marriage.
However, marriage practices are changing, with a move towards more love marriage this is likely to have important implications on women’s status and agency, household and couple dynamics, and mental and physical health. Marriage is a point of change in young people’s lives, especially in parts of the world that place high value on it, such as in South Asian countries including Nepal.
Educational programs and examining the factors that enhance marital satisfaction are needed to prevent and reduce marital burnout in married couples. Marital satisfaction was one of the effective factors in predicting marital burnout, so it can be concluded that it is necessary to pay more attention to this issue. It should be noted that marital satisfaction had a higher effect on predicting marital burnout ( P < 0.001). The variables were finally able to predict 12% of marital burnout variance. The results of linear regression showed a significant relationship between mandatory in marriage, marital satisfaction, marriage duration, and husband's level of education with women's marital burnout. A significant relationship was detected and observed between women's participation in training courses of communication skills and total marital burnout, inclusive of the subscales regarding psychological burnout ( P < 0.05). A significant relationship was also observed between mandatory marriage and total marital burnout, as well as subscales of somatic, emotional, and psychological burnout ( P < 0.05). There was a significant relationship between the level of women's education with total marital burnout, and the subscales of somatic and emotional burnout ( P < 0.05). The mean (± SD) of marital burnout, in this study, was 55.46 (± 18.03) (out of 147 score).
